Eagerpig Newsletter – 26th June 09

Well here we are again with another newsletter, fair bit happening this time around which has had me really busy over the last few weeks, have run a few schools, a few VIM sessions, been to a few events and right now is a busy time with the World Junior’s. I have also made some changes to the Fifty that I ride around on at the schools with a sick graphics kit and some extra goodies, like a bigger front wheel with good tires at both ends, plus a longer and higher swingarm kit and a manual clutch. All it needs now is a pipe, fork kit and front disc brake kit and it will be finished!!! Anyway, read on and check out what I have been up to......

Victorian Institute of Motocross

Since last issue we have had two track sessions, the first at Newry where the Australian Junior MX Titles will be held, and the second at Cobram which was a few weeks before the Junior State Title round there and proved very valuable. The Newry day in particular was excellent with riders running 4 wide through some sections of the track working on their passing options along with some delicate line selections throughout the whole track, while plenty of work at Cobram on the whoops made a big difference on race day. Coming up we have a session at the new Goulburn Valley venue, followed by a weekend session to wrap everything up during September.

Coaching Schools

Coming up we have a school at Goulburn Valley’s new track just out of Mooroopna on Sunday 2nd August, for details or to make a booking just contact myself. The Newry and Cobram schools during May went really well with attending riders gaining a heap of track time and having a very valuable day, thanks again to those who made it.

Racing

Heaps of racing on at the moment and is definitely the busy time of year for it, first off was the Victorian Junior MX Titles at Ararat in May, then off to Murray Bridge for a round of the MX Nationals and Cobram for round 2 of the Victorian Junior MX Titles during June. Coming up I am heading to Rosebud this Saturday for a Gippsland Centre round to help out some Junior riders with their preparations, then Wodonga for a Senior State Title round, then back to Rosebud for the final Junior State round.

2009 FIM Junior Motocross World Championship – New Zealand

Just after the last issue I headed to Canberra for an intensive 3 day AIS (Australian Institute of Sport) Camp with 26 selected riders, who would make up the final 16 riders who are to head to New Zealand in August. With a mix of theory, training and track sessions it was sure to be a great few days for the riders, all of whom learnt plenty to take home with them to use in the future whether they made the team or not. Announcements have been out for a while so everyone already knows who is going, congratulations to both those who are and are not, all were impressive in their own ways and we can expect to see all of them at the pointy end in the future. Preparations for the trip itself are in full swing and the excitement level is really starting to lift as we get closer, 7 weeks and counting!!!

If you add up all the above sections you can see the car is racking up the k’s at the minute, after flying to Canberra for the AIS camp I have gone to Ararat, Newry, Cobram, Murray Bridge and back to Cobram, plus some private stuff around the traps in between. Plenty more on the cards over the next few weeks so no doubt I will run in to most of you again soon, good luck out there and stay safe.
