It’s a day or two early I know, but I am heading to Coolum for the final
round of the OZ MX Nationals this weekend and figured early is better than late,
might see some of you up there.
What’s been happening:
Victorian Institute of Motocross
VIM had a track session this month down at Rosebud in the sand, awesome preparation for the senior state round that followed 2 weeks after plus the juniors racing in sand at the Australian Titles later this year. Conditions were perfect, apart from being cold but the rain held off. Thanks again to the club for letting us use their excellent venue. As far as the riders out racing it has mainly been the seniors with 2 National and 2 State rounds with most of the riders going well. Young Lachlan Terry is still performing extending his lead in both the Australian and Victorian Off Road Series events.
Barrabool Junior Squad
Tom Ovens blitzed home again after riding on Saturday at Rosebud Senior State Titles to coach the Barrabool squad on the Sunday. All reports were for a good day, and just an update on Tom who did dislocate his shoulder at Rosebud, it was as minimal as it could be and will still be racing at Coolum.
Coaching Schools
Not a lot happened this month in regards to coaching schools, again with all of the racing going on plus a VIM and Barrabool session it really does limit us to private sessions during the week, so we were busy, just not with schools this month.
Racing
Well, been up to Newcastle for the Lakes round of the MX National, then Broadford for Senior State Titles, Newry for MX Nationals, then Rosebud for Senior State Titles. Obviously still the busy period but like I said last month I do enjoy it.
Looking ahead:
Victorian Institute of Motocross
Not long to go until we wrap up this years VIM, with applications coming out very soon for the 2009 season squad which may seem early but it gives everyone time to prepare and start training over the break in preparation for next year, last year was a little rushed for time to get everyone ready before racing started and we don’t want that to happen again so get your applications in early!
Barrabool Junior Squad
Nothing this month, track will be closed for maintenance for the final round of the Victorian Senior MX Titles, hope to see everyone there supporting the locals on one of the best tracks around.
Coaching Schools
Our next open session is still September 17th at Rosebud with availability for private sessions between now and then. Also in the works are some SX / AX training days as a lead up to the series starting in early October. No dates just yet but they will be published when available.
Racing
Finally I can stay near home this month! Coolum on the first weekend then two weekends off before the Barrabool State round, nice.
See you out there.
Regards,
Mark Willingham
