Eagerpig Newsletter - December 2008

Well here it is, as you can see I have been making some changes to the newsletter recently but it is taking me some time, I am learning a bit of it as I go so a little patience is helping! I still have some areas I would like to make progress on especially on the website but they will happen as time goes on, like usual constructive feedback is welcomed particularly as the changes come in to effect. As far as everything else goes it has been going along well this month, we finished up the 2008 VIM group and have made a start with the new 2009 group, we have also run some private sessions plus a club school at Wonthaggi. There is still some work to fit in before the end of the year so read on for the details……….

Victorian Institute of Motocross

The 2009 VIM group is underway, starting early November the riders did a fair amount of theory on the day plus they have had some homework to complete which is to be handed over at our first track session, which is Sunday 7th December at the Broadford MX Track. This will be our first track session and no doubt all the riders are looking forward to hitting it out, it will be a long day with plenty of riding on what can only be described as a pretty serious track, personally I can’t wait. Following this we will be heading up to Albury for 2 days over the Australia Day weekend, with one day on the track and one day in the classroom which will be a great chance to ride on the new track layout that the club has been working hard on. Information on the participating riders is starting to appear on the website in the ‘riders’ section, keep an eye on it over the next few weeks.

Coaching Schools

Apart from the private training we had a school at Wonthaggi which the club organised for us on Saturday 22nd November, this was followed up by their Christmas party on the night and a club day the next morning. All in all it was a great day and we thank the club again for the opportunity, we are definitely looking forward to it becoming a regular thing during 2009. Other dates and venues are currently being sorted out for next year also, now that a calendar is published it is making this much easier as we try to access tracks that are holding State and National rounds while trying not to conflict dates with any major events, always easy!

Racing

I have not attended any events this past month, although there was plenty of SuperX action out there! Well done to all the riders involved and speedy recovery to those injured. I must say it really was great watching our sport live from the couch at home, Global Action Sports have improved the series from round to round and live to air is fantastic to see, but lets be honest, TV footage does not do it justice and nothing beats going to the venue to watch some awesome racing! Credit again to all involved and keep it up.

State Motorcycle Sports Complex – Broadford

The regular practice sessions on the SX track have finished for the year and the track is currently receiving some needed work before it reopens. After discussions with some of the riders attending the sessions we have come up with a few minor variants that will lift the technicality of the track while not becoming out of reach for riders using the track to learn on. Work is underway already which will allow for plenty of time to compact which will be even easier once the new sprinkler system is finished, yes you heard right people, turn on the tap and the track will get watered, I love it!!!

2009 FIM Junior Motocross World Championship – New Zealand

Like I mentioned last month I have been appointed Team Manager for the Australian Team to head over in August, plenty of background work is happening here with some announcements very soon. As you can appreciate there is a lot of organising before it all happens but once the ball is rolling it will be pretty full on, for those who end up being selected get ready for an exciting trip with plenty to do beforehand.

That’s all for this issue, I hope you like the new layout so far, I must say I am pretty impressed with myself working out how to put the picture in with the text around it!!! Obviously Christmas is getting close so to everyone please enjoy yourselves, keep it safe and see you in the New Year.
