Hope you enjoy yet another monthly read, its been pretty crazy out there with
events every weekend and schools during the week, it keeps me around bikes though
so its all worth it!
What’s been happening:
Victorian Institute of Motocross
All the riders have been fairly busy here and I have been following them around
every weekend this last month. It started in Murray Bridge South Australia with
a round of the National MX Titles, then Round 1 of the Victorian Senior MX Titles
the following week with all the riders going fairly well. Unfortunate news in
this group was Tim Lonsdale breaking both bones in his lower right leg between
the two events while training at home, a rod has been inserted and we all wish
him a speedy recovery however no time frame at this stage. Next was the final
round of the MX Development Series with the highlights being Stephen Zappelli
finishing 4th overall in the U19’s class. The 15yo Rookies class saw Chris
Gay finish 3rd overall and Harrison Wooding 4th overall, following home Dylan
Peterson and Jason Reed. The final weekend of the month was the final round
of the Victorian Junior MX Titles held at Toolleen and was highlighted by Harrison
Wooding and Chris Gay, each taking home a #1 plate in the premier 250F and 125cc
classes respectively, a full report is available on the Eagerpig website in
the news section so please check out all the results of the riders. While some
of us have been at the MX our youngest member Lachlan Terry has been tripping
around competing at the Australian and Victorian Off-Road series where he is
currently leading both events on his 150F while still learning how to ride over
logs, awesome effort.
Barrabool Junior Squad
Tom Ovens raced home after competing at the Victorian Senior MX Titles to take
the Barrabool Squad on Sunday 15th June and by all reports did an excellent
job on his own. With the recent rain and track preparations for events the riders
were supplied an excellent track with nice loamy corners matched with awesome
deep ruts. Lucky guys, wish I was there for a ride!
Coaching Schools
Mainly small mid week groups lately due to the heavy race schedule filling up
all of the weekends, makes it pretty busy for us and difficult for riders and
parents with school and work commitments during the week so thank you all for
making the time to fit in with us during this busy period.
Racing
Like I stated earlier it has been full on again this month, travelling to Murray
Bridge, Bairnsdale, Newcastle and finally Toolleen. Hopefully all this travelling
to the events is making a difference for the riders, plus I enjoy being there!
Looking ahead:
Victorian Institute of Motocross
The next VIM session will be a track day on Wednesday 9th July at Rosebud. This
date is 2½ weeks before the Victorian Senior MX Title Round, plus it
is Victoria’s most sandy track giving the Junior riders heading to the
Australian Junior MX Titles plenty of preparation time. No doubt a good day
will be had by all.
Barrabool Junior Squad
Just working on our next date, hoping for late July before the track is closed
for maintenance for the final round of the Victorian Senior MX Titles.
Coaching Schools
Our next open session is still September 17th at Rosebud with availability for
private sessions between now and then. Also in the works are some SX / AX training
days as a lead up to the series starting in early October. No dates just yet
but they will be published when available.
Racing
Here we go again, another month full of events! This coming weekend I start
out at Newcastle for MX Nationals, then Broadford for Rd2 Victorian MX Titles,
followed by Newry for MX Nationals and finally Rd3 Victorian Senior MX Titles
at Rosebud. At least most of it is in Victoria this month so I can spend some
nights at home!
Other
The Eagerpig Jumpers are pretty much ready, windcheater style with a zip all
the way up the front and no hood, makes it so much more comfortable when wearing
a warm jacket. Next on the agenda are backpacks / schoolbags, stay tuned.
Until next time, best of luck and keep it on two wheels.
Regards,
Mark Willingham
