How fast is this year going, still feels like it’s about March yet here
we are with the May newsletter!!! Hope you enjoy the read.
What’s been happening:
Victorian Institute of Motocross
No sessions in April for the riders but all have been progressing well and have
had a few races this month. It’s hard to mention everyone so I will stick
with the bigger events, Tim Lonsdale and Alex Morris both qualified for the
U19’s Nationals after putting on some great riding at Horsham, both rode
with maturity beyond their age and are looking forward to their first round
of the championship on May 18th at Raymond Terrace. Travis Whitten rode his
first ever National at Horsham going all out and lining up on the Pro Open grid,
bit of an eye opener for him and no doubt he is looking forward to another round.
At the Victorian Junior MX Champs Hayden Harris won his first ever A grade race
with a heat win on the 250F, while Chris Gay and Harrison Wooding are 1st and
2nd in the 125 class and 4th and 3rd in the 250F class. Luke Young rode very
well on his 150F and 250F also. Mitch Van Vliet has been going awesome on his
ATV and has recently been upgraded to Pro Class and is giving the big boys a
hurry up. On a sad note Lachlan Terry hurt himself in the morning practice at
Newry and will be off the bike for a couple of weeks, Rhys Bradley hurt himself
at Albury 2 weeks ago breaking his collarbone. Both riders are recovering well
and will be back out riding soon, speedy recovery boys.
Barrabool Junior Squad
We had a session on April 12th with Rhys Bradley helping out due to Tom Ovens
having work commitments, it was a pretty good day and it was great to have a
session just before the State titles for the juniors. Saw a few of the riders
at Newry having a go, Mitch Landy and Dylan Hodgson both rode, unfortunately
Ethan Gotts was a no show due to a mistake with his entry and the race secretary
would not accept him even if he paid the late entry fee, real shame for Ethan
as I know he was really looking forward to it.
Racing
Obviously a few races have happened during April, I have been to the MX Nationals
at Horsham and the Victorian Junior State Titles at Newry, looks like we are
getting in to the busy time of year!
Other
A few people have taken up the offer on the Eagerpig Merchandise which is great
so thank you for the support. For those of you not familiar we have Polo Shirts,
Vests and Jackets available for purchase with more items coming in the near
future. All are excellent quality and look very professional while also being
very practical. The jackets in particular are very warm! Any inquiries on these
just shoot me an email.
Looking ahead:
Victorian Institute of Motocross
No sessions for the VIM riders again this month with all the racing that is
happening, the riders will be competing at a mix of the MX Nationals, MX Development
Series, Victorian Junior MX Titles and Regions which will keep them all pretty
busy, good luck to all.
Barrabool Junior Squad
Unfortunately there are no available days this month for these riders with a
full month of racing on including the 2 day open at Barrabool on the 24th &
25th of May meaning the track will be closed for maintenance, best of luck to
all the riders.
Coaching Schools
Our next open coaching school is on Wednesday 21st May at the Central Vic (Toolleen)
track, perfect timing for the upcoming Victorian Junior State Titles to be held
there not long after. This is also during the week directly after the Open meeting
there so the track will still be rough with heaps of options for different lines
to work on. Between now and then we are doing plenty of individual sessions
getting riders fine tuned and ready to go so feel free to contact me if required.
Racing
This month I will be attending the MX Nationals round at Raymond Terrace, Round
2 of the MX Development Series at Newry and the second Victorian Junior MX Titles
round at Melton, see you all there!
Other
With this being the busy time of year in regards to racing you may notice I
am not running many schools, VIM or the Barrabool Squad sessions over the next
few months, this is mainly due to the fact that I will be attending race meetings
every weekend for 12 weeks starting on May 18th and finishing on August 3rd.
This really only leaves us with weekdays available for coaching which becomes
difficult to run schools while everyone is at school and work. A few days are
in the works for during the June school holidays so watch this space.
On another note some of you may have noticed some problems with the website over the last 2 weeks, this was due to someone hacking in and messing around with it. It has been fully rectified and i do apologise if it caused anyone any grief, i know it caused me plenty!!!
Well that’s the end of another edition of the newsletter, again best of
luck to all the riders over the next few weeks of racing and I will see you
all out there.
