Victorian Junior Titles Wrap
30th June 2008

Well the 2008 Victorian Junior Motocross Titles are over and I must say many of the classes came down to the wire. Many of the Victorian Institute of Motocross riders had great performances, as did plenty of other riders Eagerpig Developments has helped out over the season so here are some of the details;

Harrison Wooding – Eagerpig Developments Sponsored Rider
1st Place A grade 250F #1 plate, 2nd Place A grade 125cc #2 plate.
Where to begin here! From my point of view working with Harro is simply awesome, not only as a coach but because he and his family are so nice they make you feel like a part of it (relax guys I am not moving in!). As far as on the track goes, I can say he is one of the fittest, most determined and mentally strongest riders in the field, scary part is he still has so much more to show us. Over time I have no doubt he will become a very strong competitor in the senior ranks where he begins racing next year, for the mean time keep an eye on his progress heading for Western Australia for the National Titles starting later in September. Well done Harro, hang that #1 proudly on the wall mate you earned it.

Chris Gay – Victorian Institute of Motocross
1st Place A grade 125cc #1 Plate, 3rd Place A grade 250F #2 plate.
Chris has shown how much raw speed he has this year, plus the natural ability to put the bike almost anywhere he wants to. Although the final round was not as smooth as he would have liked, he won the 125 class by only a 1 point margin. In one of those races that really did come down to the wire, he held his nerve and did what he had to do, earning a number 1 plate in the process, well done Chris. Very shortly Chris also starts his preparations for Western Australia and you heard it here first, Chris will be training for this event!!! A little tongue in cheek I know, but after this final round Chris is now determined to lift his physical fitness for the Australian Titles and for Senior’s next year, good luck and keep at it.

Hayden Harris – Victorian Institute of Motocross
5th Place A grade 125cc #5 plate, 11th Place A grade 250F #10 plate.
After finishing 18th in last years A grade 125cc class, Hayden has shown huge improvement this year. After heaps of holeshots so far this year, Hayden has been able to run with the pace of the guys up front, however small mistakes while caught up in the moment seem to let him down, however he did manage to win a race at round 1 and come second in a race at the final round. With his customary good starts, his good speed and his continued efforts on working out those small mistakes, he will go well in the future, good luck Hayden and well done.

Luke Young – Victorian Institute of Motocross
7th A grade 85/150F #7 plate, A grade 250F.
Luke had a pretty good series on the 150F finishing 7th overall earning himself the #7 plate, something he can be very happy about. On the 250F Luke continued to use this bike for learning as he is still rather small, he had some good races on it and enjoys riding the bigger bike, something he is trying really hard to improve on. Well done buddy and keep up the good work.

Cody Russ – Victorian Institute of Motocross
19th A grade 250F
Cody had one of those series he would rather forget, but at the same time showed some good form (a point he would argue!). His finishes were very up and down and marred with incidents, however he did show himself he can get good starts and run the pace he knows he can, he can say his fitness and determination from his efforts this year never let him down. Cody only has one area he needs to improve on, he knows what this is so keep an eye on his form throughout the rest of this year. Chin up and keep working hard mate, you and I both know you can do it.

Lachlan Terry – Victorian Institute of Motocross
Many of you may be wondering where Lochlan has been as I have not mentioned him yet and he is the only junior member of VIM that was not at the Vic Titles. He injured himself in practice at round 1 before recovering and taking his assault to both the Australian and Victorian Off Road Series which have had conflicting dates. Currently he sits in first place at both events on his 150F so keep an eye out for more details at the end of the series and keep it up Lochie.

Eagerpig Developments has helped out heaps of other junior riders so far this year in one way or another, to all of you well done it looks like a few are going to be upgraded! I can not mention everybody but I must say something about Dylan Long, very unlucky on the 85cc crashing in the first turn in race 2 resulting in a dnf, but so proud when he went out injured and gave it everything he had in the final race to secure 3rd overall, gritted his teeth and rode like a true champion, it really was one of those warm and fuzzy moments for all his supporters and family so thanks for letting me be part of it.

I am still awaiting publication of the official results, hopefully my maths are ok and I will double check them once the results are out.

We still have the senior riders running their State and National series while the juniors get a rest until late September. Keep working hard guys and I will see you out there.
